The House of Representatives has said that it will oversee an investigation into the military drone attack that claimed the lives of over eighty Nigerians on December 3 in Kaduna State

In an Abuja statement on Saturday titled”Tudun Biri tragedy elicits profound sorrow,” Babajimi Benson, the chairman of the House Committee on Defense, provided the guarantee.

He offered his condolences for the unpleasant event and tasked the Nigerian Army and other security services with making civilian safety their first priority when conducting operations.

He challenged them to proceed with extreme caution and to take action to stop such incidents from happening again.

He said, “The unfortunate incident in Tudun Biri community, Kaduna state, has cast a sobre mood over the hearts of all Nigerians; the House Committee on Defence is profoundly saddened by this regrettable incident.

“The loss of innocent lives in this tragic incident is heartbreaking, and our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families.

“We would like to recognise the prompt admission of responsibility by the Nigerian Army following the accidental air strike.”

He expressed gratitude to all the parties involved who were instrumental in easing the victims’ agony.

According to him, the episode proved how important it is for military personnel to operate with prudence and accuracy, especially when they are in areas where civilians reside.

According to him, the committee recognized the difficulties the Nigerian Armed Forces face in maintaining security and combating various threats around the nation.

In the service of the country, he praised the commitment and sacrifices made by the armed forces and other security services.

 “It remains crucial for the public to steadfastly support our troops, acknowledging the intricate nature of the security environment in which they operate.

“The House Committee on Defence will closely monitor the investigations and work collaboratively with the military authorities to ensure that corrective measures are implemented to prevent the recurrence of such unfortunate incidents, ” he said.
