Kankara: ‘They Are Not Boko Haram’ – Student Reveal Identity of Their Abductors.
Days after regaining freedom from their abductors, one among hundreds of Kankara schoolboys kidnapped about two weeks ago in Katsina State has said that their abductors are not Boko Haram members.
The schoolboy who has appeared in several interviews following their release had again disclosed in a now-viral video, that they were instructed to say that the kidnappers are Boko Haram terrorists.
A voice note had surfaced online in the last week with Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau claiming that the abduction of the over 300 boys was done by his gang members.
Shekau claimed in the audio that “what happened in Katsina was done to promote Islam and discourage un-Islamic practices as Western education is not the type of education permitted by Allah and his Holy Prophet.”
According to him, the young children are being taught “what Allah and his Holy Prophet commanded. They are rather destroying Islam. It may be subtle, but Allah the Lord of the skies and earths knows whatever is hidden. May Allah promote Islam. May we die as Muslims.”
However, when asked in the now-viral video if their abductors were bandits or Boko Haram, the boy who seemed to be the older of the other boys said, “I do not know who they are but I was told to say they’re Boko Haram from the gang of Abu Shekau.”
Speaking about his experience with the kidnappers, he added, “From what I experienced sincerely they are not Boko Haram.”
