The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Kano, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has come under fire from Muhammad Sanusi II, the fourteenth Emir of Kano, for what he sees as a lack of class in accepting the election result.
The former Emir cited the opposition’s path through the tribunal and appellate courts, which ended in their loss in the Supreme Court, as a glaring example of Gawuna’s lack of faith in the will of the people during a virtual Islamic book presentation on social media.
Emir Sanusi emphasized that voting for leaders is a vital prerogative of citizens. He said that it is against democratic values to deny citizens their rightful option once they have cast their votes.
Sanusi said, “Something peculiar is happening; after people cast their votes and lose the election, they resort to the courts to forcefully seize power. They encountered Allah in the final court, and only then did they claim to believe in Allah’s decision.”
Emir Sanusi pushed for a resilient mindset in the face of court rulings and advised everyone to take a lesson from the opposition’s willingness to concede.
Emir Sanusi turned his focus to the present governor of Kano State and provided advice and prayers while pleading for a transparent and democratic election process.
He asked the populace to evaluate the governor’s leadership skills and vote sensibly in light of their thorough assessment of his performance.
He urged people to keep praying for heavenly direction in politics and Kano State’s general advancement.
