Karl Malone was a professional basketball player in his youth. He was nicknamed “the Mailman” and was widely recognized as one of the best power forwards in NBA history. This athlete spent his first 18 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Utah Jazz from 1985 to 2003. He and colleague John Stockton made a strong duo during this period.
Throughout his 18-year career, Malone won the NBA Most Valuable Player award twice and was selected to the NBA All-Star team 14 times. He was also chosen for the NBA’s first team 11 times. The most free throws attempted and made by a single player are also held by this player.
Karl Malone also attended Louisiana Tech University. He played for Louisiana Tech for three seasons, assisting the Bulldogs in 1984 in their historic first NCAA tournament appearance. He additionally contributed to the team’s victory in the Southland Conference in 1985.
The gifted player was chosen by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the 1985 NBA Draft. Every season of this player’s career, he participated in the playoffs. This also applies to the NBA Finals from 1997 and 1998.
