Details of the protracted dispute between renowned rapper 50 Cent and Eedris Abdulkareem have been disclosed by Nigerian musician KCee.
The incident, which happened in 2004 on a plane while on a music tour organised by Nigerian Breweries, has generated a lot of talk and controversy over the years.
In addition to defending Eedris Abdulkareem’s actions and reputation, KCee’s narrative attempted to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation.
In an interview with Naija 102fm and on the Honest Bunch Podcast, KCee related his first-hand story of the incident. He made it clear that, in contrast to popular belief, 50 Cent did not take part in the altercation personally.
Rather, 50 Cent’s staff sparked a fight with Eedris over seating arrangements in the plane’s business class section.
Eedris said he had a contract with Nigerian Breweries that entitled him to the same treatment as 50 Cent, according to KCee. Eedris got into a physical conflict with 50 Cent’s crew because he wouldn’t get up from his seat.
The Inspector General of Police intervened as the incident quickly got out of hand and caught the notice of Olusegun Obasanjo, the president of Nigeria at the time.
KCee went on to say that the entire event was captured on camera by his brother E-Money, who was at the time his manager.
To stop the video from being leaked, 50 Cent’s employees physically seized the recording devices, which caused the situation to worsen. The tense atmosphere around the altercation was highlighted by this violent behaviour.
Even with all the negative publicity that surrounded the incident, KCee supported Eedris Abdulkareem, calling him enthusiastic about the Nigerian music indusrty. KCee acknowledged Eedris’s contributions to the industry but also pointed out his flaws and aggressive demeanour.
Similar remarks were made by other prominent figures in the industry, including as Jaywon and Paul Okoye, who acknowledged Eedris’s significant influence on Nigerian music.
In conclusion, KCee’s findings highlight the complexities and conflicts that can arise among artists and throw light on a significant period in the history of Nigerian music.
The episode shows the tenacity and passion of those that contribute to the development and evolution of the music industry, while also serving as a reminder of the challenges and issues that come with success and prominence in the field.
