He is an actor best known for his portrayal of the character Ren McCormack in the critically acclaimed 2011 musical comedy film “Footloose”, written and directed by Craig Brewer and also starred Julianne Hough and Denis Quaid. Alongside his two brothers, Lee and Dylan, Kenny was raised in Stoughton, Massachusetts, by Edgar K. Wormald, their father a theatre actor, and their mother, Melanie, a model.
From an early age he was interested in dancing and after his parents noticed his passion, they enrolled him in a performing arts school where Kenny practiced dancing, singing and acting. In 1998, he enrolled at Stoughton High School, where he was physically active, playing both soccer and football, and was a member of the school choir and drama club, appearing in almost every play at school.
Kenny chose not to attend college after enrolling in 2002 but to move to Los Angeles, California and focus on his acting and dancing career.
At the age of six, Kenny started taking dancing lessons. In 2004, he starred as a dancer in the movie ‘You Got Served’.
He was confirmed to make his acting debut in the Oxygen cable network Made-For-Television film Center ‘Stage: Turn It Up’ as the male lead in April 2008. The film, a sequel to Center Stage, premiered in November same year.
‘Paramount Pictures’ announced in June 2010, Wormald was cast as the protagonist in the planned remake of the 1984 dance drama film ‘Footloose’.
In September of that same year the filming took place on a $24 million budget, with Julianne Hough and Dennis Quaid confirmed to star.
On October 14, 2011, the film ‘Footloose’ was released with generally positive reviews from critics, with Wormald’s performance receiving mixed reviews. Kenny also starred in the mock reality web series ‘Massholes’ in 2012.
In the movie ‘Kid Cannabis’, he had the main role of Topher in 2013. Kenny also played the role of Pete in the movie ‘Cavemen’. Likewise, Wormald starred as Gordan in the movie ‘The Living’ in 2014.
