Kenyan President William Ruto has called for an immediate halt to the current demonstrations, vowing to safeguard the country, its citizens, and their belongings, while also ensuring the preservation of peace and order.
He stressed the importance of democracy in enabling the peaceful resolution of issues.
The protests have persisted despite the administration’s concessions, which include rejecting the Finance Bill 2024 and dismissing most of the Cabinet.
William Ruto stated his readiness to participate in discussions, while stressing that the welfare of the nation takes precedence over that of any particular group.
He promised to put an end to the protests, stating “enough is enough” and promising to stop looting, killing, and mayhem.
