The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its campaign for the Nov. 11 Kogi Governorship Election, as a sign of respect for Ms Khadijat Yahaya, a member of the party who died after an attack by suspected thugs.
This was said in a statement made in Lokoja by Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, the state Campaign Council’s spokesperson.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the APC clashed in Kotonkarfe on September 29, and Khadijat allegedly Died as a result.
In the meantime, Alhaji Usman Ododo, the state’s APC governorship candidate, on Tuesday paid a visit to the deceased woman’s family in Kotonkarfe to express his condolences for her passing.
Ododo expressed shock at her passing and asked God to grant her soul peace.
Malam Saliu Akawu replied and thanked Ododo for coming.
According to Akawu, Ododo’s actions demonstrated his compassion as a leader and his unwavering commitment to his followers.
He claimed that Khadijat was an exceptionally peace-loving person whose life was tragically cut short by wicked people.
Ododo also paid a visit to Alhaji Abdulrazak Koto, the palace of the Ohimege of Kotonkarfe, where he expressed his sorrow over Khadijat’s passing.
He described her as a woman of peace who wanted to see Kotonkarfe develop and who pledged to see that the family of the deceased received justice.
