Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan and his crew have landed in Accra, Ghana to film scenes for the second season of the Netflix series Anikulapo.
Veteran filmmaker Tunde Kelani, who is part of the production team, shared the news on social media on Sunday.
He posted, “We arrived at Accra’s Kotoka International Airport this morning with the Anikulapo team,” on both Instagram and Facebook.
Actress and CEO of the National Film Authority of Ghana, Juliet Asante, posted on Instagram about the crew’s arrival in Accra.
Kunle Afolayan finished filming the Nigerian scenes for Anikulapo Season 2 at the KAP Film Village in Igbojaye on September 11.
Returning actors from the first season are Sola Sobowale, Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), Aisha Lawal, Bimbo Ademoye, Moji Afolayan, Eyiyemi Afolayan, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Owobo Ogunde, Lateef Adedimeji, and Oyindamola Sanni.
Joining the series this season are new actors Saidi Balogun, Saga Adeolu, and Antar Laniyan.
Some actors from Ghana appear in the second part of the series, working together with Kunle Afolayan Production and the National Film Authority to support the Shoot in Ghana project.
The trailer for Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre was shared on Netflix’s official Instagram on January 30, and the series premiered on March 1.
In the first episode, it is shown that Saro not only came back to life but was also given a task to eliminate the twenty people he brought back using magical powder from a mystical bird.
In the following episode, Saro was shown to be captured and brought back to the Oyo Kingdom, where he faced a new fate.
The story also uncovered the fate of Arolake, portrayed by Bimbo Ademoye.
