A business poster made by an Ebonyi woman has gone viral on social media after many people confused it with an obituary.
This misunderstanding has triggered a lot of comments online, with some blaming the designer for the unclear design.
A Facebook user named Meme Plug General shared the image, showing surprise at the confusing design.
He wrote, “Omor, I almost typed RIP,” indicating he first thought the poster was about mourning the woman.
The poster was meant to advertise a four-day business training event in Ebonyi, but its design, like the font, colors, and the way the woman’s picture was placed, looked a lot like a regular obituary.
Social media users criticized the designer for the mix-up:
@Prince Kelly said: “I don call the number wey dey there tire. The mugu is not picking up. He would have heard from me. Nonsense.”
@Wisdom Aminayanasam added: “You people should be careful the way you create banners. Create it in a better way because it’s not a sad story that happened to her.”
This situation has led to talks about what it means to be a professional in graphic design. A lot of people are advising designers to consider how their designs are interpreted to avoid misunderstandings.
