In a Facebook post by influencer Kelvin Onovo, she shared her feelings of frustration and fear of losing him through an anonymous letter.
She noted that the problems started on November 9, when her fiancé received the traditional bride price list, leading to a noticeable change in his behavior and him ignoring her calls.
In her message to Onovo, she wrote, “Keep me anonymous. This nightmare was collected on the 9th Nov. 24. It’s disheartening because since my guy saw the list he has changed and he’s not picking my calls. I don’t want to lose him. I have no parents too. I have struggled enough 😭.”
The bride price list has ignited conversations on social media, as it reaches millions of naira, with many people pointing out the financial strain it creates for grooms.
A social media user Kolawole Simisola said, “It’s obvious you want him to feed your entire village for years. He is a human just as you are, you better be wise.”
