Lagos ranks fifth best African city to live, work in-Report

According to a Brand Finance City report from 2023, Lagos is the fifth best African city overall for people to live, work, and invest in.

The report states that Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, came in fifth place in a survey with a 56 percent response rate, trailing only Casablanca, Morocco, Johannesburg, South Africa, and Cape Town, South Africa, which received 62, 60, 59, and 59 percent respectively.

The only six African nations to be listed among the top 100 cities in the world are Cape Town, Cairo, Johannesburg, Casablanca, Lagos, and Nairobi, which are ranked 60, 67, 72, 76, 90, and 94 on the global rankings.

London, England, is said to have the best city brand in the world, according to the ranking, scoring 84.6%, followed by New York, the United States, and Paris, France, which rank second and third, respectively, with 83.0% and 79.7%.

According to the report, “The ranking is based on a global survey of nearly 15,000 people conducted in April 2023 in 20 countries across all continents to measure perceptions of the world’s top 100 cities.”

Chairman and CEO of Brand Finance, David Haigh, commented on the survey by saying that London’s exceptional performance in the Index can be attributed to its widespread familiarity.

London’s success in the overall ranking as the best city in the world is due to its first place finish on this particular measure, giving it a significant advantage over its competitors.
