Laide Bakare Opens Up About Clash With Eniola Badmus At Owambe Thieves Premiere

  • Laide Bakare discussed a recent altercation with fellow actress Eniola Badmus.
  • The incident occurred during the premiere of “Owambe Thieves” on April 13, 2025.
  • The event took place at Circle Mall in Lagos, attended by many Nigerian celebrities.
  • Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has shed light on the altercation that recently took place between her and fellow actress Eniola Badmus at the premiere of Owambe Thieves.

The event, which occurred on April 13, 2025, at Circle Mall in Lagos, attracted numerous Nigerian celebrities. However, the premiere took an unexpected turn when tensions between Bakare and Badmus escalated, nearly resulting in a physical confrontation.

Following days of speculation and cryptic social media posts, Laide Bakare took to Instagram Live to share her side of the story. During the broadcast, she accused Eniola Badmus of harboring resentment toward her, allegedly due to her natural appearance.

Bakare suggested that Badmus might be uncomfortable around her because she (Bakare) has not undergone cosmetic surgery and still looks attractive without makeup. She went further to describe Badmus as “inauthentic,” accusing her of heavily editing her photos and undergoing surgical procedures to gain public approval.

Clips from Bakare’s Instagram Live quickly circulated online, fueling further discussion among fans and on entertainment platforms.

    She said:

“Eniola your nakedness is horrible, I figured out that is one of your problems with me. I didn’t do no surgery, as I am, I’m not wearing makeup, anybody that sees me in real life will definitely want to touch me, I am that clean. Even Funke Akindele that is moving around with her also knows her character but decided to leave her because she’s mature.”

Laide Bakare mentioned that she cast Eniola Badmus in her first significant role in Nollywood around 2002, noting that Eniola was quite overweight and not conventionally attractive back then.

“When I casted you for that role, Eniola you were ugly and fat, very obese. You didn’t even have the charisma for the acting at the time”, Bakare said.

According to Laide Bakare, while attending the Owambe Thieves premiere, Eniola Badmus repeatedly came into her area and loudly stated that she didn’t want to be filmed with her since they weren’t friends.

Bakare alleged that Badmus was bullying her, particularly after Badmus had insulted her by calling her an animal in a direct message two years ago, which she did not respond to at the time.

“Why would you come to my space, you knew that I was not coming for you, in case people don’t know, I am a shy person. Yesterday, I got to the party very late, I didn’t do any red carpet because I just wanted to honour that lady, you just kept coming to my space, I don’t know why and you kept saying ‘I am not your friend’, why are you telling the whole world? Why are you saying it to the camera that I should not be recorded with you that you’re not my friend? It was getting too embarrassing. With everything you have done, all the bullying, did I ever reply you? When you came to my DM to call me an animal did I ever post it? And that’s almost two years now. Stop bullying because you feel I will not respond.”
