Nollywood actress and filmmaker Laide Bakare has addressed the controversies surrounding her life, from her political ambitions to her feud with fellow actress Eniola Badmus.
In a candid interview with Seun Oloketuyi on October 7, Laide opened up about the issues related to her political influence and the strained relationship with Badmus.
Earlier this year, in February, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State appointed her as the Senior Special Assistant on Entertainment, Art, Culture, and Tourism, which put her in the political limelight.
The appointment sparked both cheers and doubts, but Laide, in a candid interview, described how it all began.
She reminisced about her first encounter with Governor Adeleke while visiting the United States. Laide expressed admiration for the governor’s friendly demeanor and his knack for connecting with youth, highlighting how he saw her potential.
Laide emphasized that the governor’s charisma and relatable leadership style made a significant impression on her.
Laide openly discussed her new political role, sharing how she has welcomed both the challenges and benefits it brings. She mentioned that Adeleke has great confidence in her, assigning her the important job of enhancing Osun’s entertainment and cultural fields.
With her initiatives already underway, Laide expressed her goal to uplift the youth, especially students, throughout Osun State.
However, as her political journey progressed, the conflict between Laide and her peer, Eniola Badmus, became more apparent, turning into a well-known issue in the industry.
Laide opened up about a recent clash that left their colleagues in shock. She explained that Eniola accused her in public of saying she was “childless.”
Laide felt hurt by this accusation, as she claims she never said anything like that.
She clarified that she only offered Eniola some advice about considering a family, but her words were twisted into something hurtful.
