Late Mr Ibu Receives Posthumous Award At Humour Awards

    Late Nigerian movie star John Okafor, known as Mr. Ibu, was recently honored posthumously at the third Humour Awards.

    This award recognized his significant impact on the entertainment world, especially in comedy, before he sadly passed away on March 2, 2024.

    In a heartfelt tribute, Stella Maris Okafor, Mr. Ibu’s widow, expressed her sincere thanks for the recognition.

    She shared a touching video message, stating that her late husband would have appreciated this honor, and acknowledged the strong impact he had on both the entertainment field and his fans.

    “People love him so much,” Stella said. Fans continue to show their love, as seen in the positive comments on his social media posts.

    Stella reminisced about her husband’s one-of-a-kind humor, which continues to influence others in the business.

    “People try to replicate his style,” she added.

    The widow reminisced about their special moments, highlighting the joy they had, particularly when Mr. Ibu would request her to make meals for him and his friends.

    “He would say, ‘First-class set table for 5 or 10,’” she reminisced, describing how he would often bring his friends over to enjoy her cooking.

    Stella emphasized that Mr. Ibu was a caring father and husband, in addition to his career success. She mentioned how much she misses him.

    The widow expressed her gratitude to the Humour Awards organizers for keeping her husband’s legacy alive.
