1. We’re Not Going Back to School Again – Freed Zamfara Schoolgirls
Some freed students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State have vowed not to return to school.
Gistlover had reported how bandits abducted some schoolgirls from the school in February 2021 and released them after few days in captivity.
In an interview with SaharaReporters on Friday, some of the students vowed never to return to school again, while others decided to seek transfer to another school in Gusau to continue their education.
“My friends and I have decided not to return to school again because we don’t want gunmen to abduct us again,” a student said.
2. 13 Killed, 17 Injured As Bandits Attack Kaduna Communities
No fewer than 13 persons have been killed and seven others injured in a series of bandits’ attacks on communities in Zangon Kataf, Kauru and Chikun Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
In a statement on Friday by the state Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, 56 houses, 16 motorcycles, and several barns were razed in one of the attacks on Kizachi village of Kauru LGA.
3. Fani-Kayode Never Sexually Harassed, Assaulted Any Of His Staff – Nurse
One of the domestic staff of former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has said that the politician never assaulted or sexually harassed any of his female workers.
A nurse employed by the former minister, Favour Anthony made this known in a statement made available to reporters on Friday.
Gistlover had reported how a former staff, Anthonia Uchenna, had alleged Fani-Kayode stripped his former chef naked over theft and arrested some others suspected of stealing in his house.
But according to Anthony, the allegations made against the former minister are false, baseless, and a move to tarnish his image.
4. Obaseki vs APC: Appeal Court Rules on Edo Governor Certificate Forgery
The Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday dismissed the alleged University of Ibadan degree certificate forgery filed against Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Gistlover reports that the appellate court ruled that the suit filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) lacked merit as it awarded N250,000 cost in favour of Obaseki.
Recall that Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja had on January 9, 2021, dismissed the case of university certificate forgery against the governor.
5. Fani-Kayode Caught On Tape Allegedly Threatening Domestic Worker with Hammer (Video)
The Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Femi Fani-Kayode has been caught in a video threatening his domestic worker with a hammer.
Fani-Kayode in a video obtained by SaharaReporters was holding a hammer was heard asking the worker ‘Why? Why? Why?’
In response, the worker said, “I didn’t allow anybody in sir, they only called to tell me that NEPA people were around.”
6. Former CJN, Onnoghen Opens Up On Why Buhari Sacked Him
Former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen has revealed why he was relieved of his position by the President Muhammadu Buhari led government.
Gistlover recalls that Onnoghen was ousted from office by the Buhari administration in 2019 unceremoniously.
Speaking in Abuja on Friday, March 19 at a book launch titled ‘Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules, 2009, Practice, Procedure, Forms and Precedents’, authored by a renowned legal luminary, Chief Ogwu James Onoja, the former CJN said his removal from office was due to rumoured reports from the executives that he had a conversation with Atiku Abubakar, former vice president of Nigeria.
7. I Promise To Stop Abductions of Schoolchildren – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to tackle the scourge of schoolchildren’s abductions happening in the Northern part of the country.
He stated this on Friday while receiving the National Working Group of the Supporting Advancement of Gender Equity Initiative at the State House in Abuja.
Buhari added that his government remains resolute in its pursuit of a just and credible society devoid of inequalities and promotion of the rule of law.
“Despite the spike of incidence of the abduction of school children and other security challenges, this government remains resolute in its pursuit of a just and credible society devoid of inequalities and promotion of the rule of law,” Buhari said.
8. Boko Haram Throws Maiduguri into Darkness, Cuts off Power Supply
Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly destroyed some power stations and transmission lines, cutting Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, from the national grid for two months.
It was gathered that Boko Haram laid land mines that injured officials of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) when they tried to repair the demage.
This led to heavy military escort as repairs progressed. Residents and business owners now have to rely on their power generating sets for electricity.
Fuel marketers in Maiduguri have be accused of hoarding petroleum products, triggering price inflation.
9. 2023: PDP Spokesperson Speaks on Zone That Will Get Party’s Presidential Ticket
The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan has revealed that contrary to speculations in some quarters, the party is yet to take a final decision on zoning its 2023 presidential ticket.
Ologbondiyan in a series of tweets on Friday afternoon said the party is yet to adopt the recommendations proposed by the Senator Bala Mohammed Committee on the Review of the 2019 Elections.
He, therefore, added that it would be wrong of anyone to state that the party has chosen a zone to give its 2023 presidential ticket based on the report by the committee.
10. Fani-Kayode Threatens To Sue Punch Newspaper for N6billion for Exposing Assault Video
The Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Femi Fani-Kayode, has threatened to sue Punch Newspaper for releasing his assault video.
Fani-Kayode in a letter forwarded to the news platform through his lawyer, Adeola Adedipe, alleged that Punch was financially induced to release the tape and also failed to contact him.
The former minister in the letter is asking for an N6 billion negotiation, the failure of which he would proceed to court.
The letter is addressed to the Managing Director, Punch Newspaper, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja (sic) and titled, “Letter of intent to sue: Defamation of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode by the Punch Newspaper, alongside her sponsors – Ms Precious Chikwendu and Prisca Chikwendu.”
