1. National Assembly Postpones Resumption

Members of the National Assembly will not be resuming on January 26, 2021, as earlier scheduled.

In a statement on Saturday by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Arc. Ojo Amos, the Assembly will now resume on Tuesday, February 9, 2020.

He said the deferment of resumption was to enable lawmakers, who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to partake in the party’s membership registration and revalidation exercise scheduled to begin on Monday 25th January 2020.

2. One Dead, 11 Injured As Explosion Rocks Kaduna

A device suspected to be explosives has gone off killing one person and injuring 11 others in Galadimawa town of Fatika District in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It was gathered that the explosion occurred around 4 pm, on Friday, causing pandemonium in the Kaduna village.

Speaking to Daily Trust, an eyewitness, who narrowly escaped the explosion, said the device went off a few meters from a police outpost.

According to the eyewitness, he would have died or found himself critically injured in the blast.

3. Oyo: Inspector-General of Police Orders Arrest Of Sunday Igboho

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered the arrest of Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho over the quit order issued to Fulani herdsmen in Oyo State.

The Cable reports the senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Garba Shehu was quoted by BBC Hausa on Friday to have confirmed the arrest order.

Gistlover reports Igboho, a youth leader and activist in Oyo State had issued a seven-day ultimatum to Fulani herders to leave Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

4. Dangote Remains Africa Richest, Adenuga Makes Forbes Richest Persons List [Full List]

Founder and Chairman Dangote Cement, Aliko Dangote, has retained his position as the richest person in Africa with a net worth of $12.5b on the Forbes magazine rich list.

Aliko, who has kept the position he has occupied for nine years now, owns 85% of publicly-traded Dangote Cement which produces 45.6 million metric tons annually and has operations in 10 countries across Africa.

Dangote Cement remains Africa’s largest cement production company.

5. Deji Adeyanju Roasts Atiku for ‘Running’ To Dubai, UAE

Co-convener of Concerned Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, has berated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for spending over two years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Deji Adeyanju, a former chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), asked Atiku to contest for a position in Dubai.

He also asked the former presidential candidate of only coming to Nigerian to attend the wedding of his children.

6. Gunmen Kill 35 In Fresh Attack In Zamfara Villages

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has been urged to take swift action to tackle insecurity issues in the state as gunmen again killed no fewer than thirty-five people in a fresh attack.

Gistlover gathered Dutsin Gari, Asha-lafiya, Rayau, Munkuru, Mahuta and Talli, all communities of the state were attacked during the weekend by yet to be identified gunmen.

The incident was said to have caused residents to flee their homes and seek refuge in some places. Reporting the incident to the governor, the Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Gado Maigari, said the affected communities are currently in terrible situations.

7. Govt Speaks On Closing Primary, Secondary Schools over COVID-19

The Rivers Government on Friday dismissed reports that it has ordered the closure of primary and secondary schools in the state over the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The government dismissed the report in a statement issued on Friday in Port Harcourt by the Commissioner of Education, Prof. Kanye Ebeku.

There was an earlier statement purportedly signed by an official of the ministry announcing the shutdown of schools, NAN reports.

8. Apostle Okikijesu Releases Fresh Prophecies on Wike, Akeredolu, Yahaya Bello, Obaseki, Abubakar Bello

Apostle Paul Okikijesu has released fresh prophecies concerning Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello.

Apostle Okikijesu in his fresh prophecies warned Governors Obaseki, Akeredolu and Yahaya Bello that there are secret plots to ruin their administrations.

He said: “Thus saith the Lord: I the Lord wants to walk with them in order to destroy secret plots and the covenant of the hosts of hell. Some people are bent on ruining their governments and causing chaos.

 “They are presently taking steps to achieve this goal, between January and March 2021; the step will be severe.”

9. Former CNN Anchor Larry King Is Dead

United States talk show legend and former CNN anchor, Larry King, has died at the age of 87.

Recall that Larry King had in late December 2020, tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus (COVID-19) and was hospitalized.

The 87-year-old was hospitalized at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, US.

But in a statement on his Twitter handle on Sunday, the death of the legendary presenter was announced.

10. Abia Governor Recalls Suspended Chief Of Staff, Dissolves Cabinet

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has announced the immediate recall of his Chief of Staff, Dr. Anthony CB Agbazuere.

Recall that Ikpeazu had suspended Agbazuere after an undated video emerged online showing him (Agbazuere) spraying money on controversial clergyman Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere alias Odumeje.
