Latest on PDP Crisis: What Jonathan Discussed With Sheriff behind Closed Door Exposed [Photos]

The embattled national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff met with former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday, February 20.

They both met at Jonathan’s residence in Abuja hours after security agencies cordoned off the International Conference Centre, the venue where the party’s caretaker committee, led by Ahmed Makarfi was to hold a stakeholders’ meeting.

The Nation reports that Sheriff arrived at Jonathan’s Maitama home at 4.25pm.

He was accompanied by some members of his National Working Committee (NWC).

Those who accompanied him were the deputy national chairman, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh; national secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo and the national financial secretary, Adewole Adeyanju.

Others were former political adviser, Ahmed Gulak; a former minister of state for finance, Yerima Ngama and Senator Umar Gada, among others.

Sheriff said there is only one PDP and nothing like a caretaker committee.

Speaking with newsmen after the meeting, Jonathan said: “We are not factionalised. We are one. I have met with Sheriff. And I have met with others. I will meet with others, so that we will be able to do what is expected of us as a political party.”

Also speaking, Sheriff said: “We only have one PDP and only one Chairman. We are putting things together to ensure that the party is united. We don’t want to have a divided house. We only have one PDP, we don’t have anything like caretaker committee.”

Jonathan said the PDP not factionalised.

Earlier, the spokesman for the Senator Makarfi-led national caretaker committee of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye accused Sheriff and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of conniving to kill the PDP

Following the sealing off of the venue for the stakeholders meeting by the police, it was moved to the Ekiti State Governor’s Lodge, o‎n T. Y. Danjuma Street, Asokoro, Abuja.
