They urged everyone to love responsibly and take steps to avoid HIV.
In a statement on Tuesday, Dr. Temitope Ilori, the agency’s Director General, called on Nigerians to make wise decisions by following the right protective steps.
She highlighted the need for safety and responsibility to reduce the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
The statement reads, “HIV remains a serious public health concern, but it is preventable. Engaging in risky behaviours — such as unprotected sex, multiple partners, or substance use that impairs judgment, which can increase the risk of HIV transmission.
“Knowing your status is key to protecting yourself and others. Regular HIV testing should be a part of your healthcare routine.
“We want everyone to enjoy Valentine’s Day while making choices that protect their health.
“HIV is preventable, and we have the tools to stop its spread. Love responsibly, get tested, and make informed decisions.”
In other news, A widely circulated video depicts a female student from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Anambra State, Nigeria, engaging in a physical confrontation with a lecturer who interrupted her dance recording.
The footage, which has gained significant attention online, captures the student filming herself when the lecturer enters the scene.
Upon the lecturer’s arrival, the student displays her dissatisfaction, leading to an intense physical struggle.
In the video, other students can be seen intervening to restrain her and prevent the situation from escalating further as she confronts the lecturer.
Reports indicate that the student’s mother is a lecturer in the Engineering Department at the university.
