A man who was outraged because he was not permitted to board an aircraft responded after learning that the aircraft had crashed and killed all 62 persons on board.

Adriano Assis described finishing his work at a hospital and racing late to make the 11:56 am flight from Cascavel Regional Airport in Cascavel, Paraná to São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo.

Assis stated that he arrived to the airport early, at 9:40 a.m., but there was no agent at the counter to check him in, so he waited upstairs and had coffee.

He was hoping to hear an announcement about checking in for his trip over the microphone, but there was none, and no one said anything.

After a time, he came downstairs about 10:30 a.m., where there was a big queue, and waited.

When the clock struck 10:41, an airport official refused to let him check in because it was nearly an hour prior to boarding time.

He fought with the personnel, but they still wouldn’t let him check in.

Voepass Airlines aircraft 2283 crashed behind a condominium in Vinhedo, São Paulo, on Friday. All 58 passengers and four staff members on the aeroplane were killed.

While still at the airport, Adriano learnt via the news that the jet had crashed and no one had survived.

He subsequently returned to embrace the airport employees who had refused to let him check in. He complimented the personnel for completing their jobs. He further claimed that the personnel saved his life by refusing to let him check in.

Aside from Assis, ten other passengers who were waiting at the incorrect gate were unable to board the aircraft, and several of them are also speaking out to express their thanks.
