Babatunde Rahim is a Nigerian singer better known by her stage name, Lyta. He secured a record contract with YBNL Nation in 2018, however he quit thein May 2019 following a conflict with Olamide, the company’s owner. In 2019, he dropped his 5-track first EP, Id.

Early years and profession

Lyta is from Kwara State; he was raised in Ajegunle and participated in the music ensemble Ile Kewu at her neighborhood mosque. On February 3, 2018, the details of his record agreement with YBNL Nation were revealed. Lyta declared in 2019 that he had no formal agreements with YBNL Nation. On February 14, 2018, Lyta’s breakout song with YBNL Nation, “Time,” featuring vocals by Olamide, was made available.

Lyta left YBNL Nation in 2019 for personal and contractual reasons. He joined Doro Musik Gang following his departure from YBNL, and on July 12, 2019, he dropped the Killertunes-produced song “Monalisa”. In less than a month following their release, Director K’s “Monalisa” images had received over 500,000 views.

A few weeks after “Monalisa” dropped, Lyta received a message from Davido asking to collaborate on an official remix. Davido and Lyta headed to Dakar for the remix and video shoot after reaching an agreement. August 30, 2019, saw the release of the “Monalisa” remix. The song was called a “handsome contradiction, with fierce expressions of yearning” by Rolling Stone magazine’s Elias Light. The remix’s corresponding music video was directed by

Lyta released the Afrobeat track “Worry” on 6 December 2019; it was produced by Killer Tunes. The visuals for “Worry” was shot and directed by Simplicity Visual Studios in London.

 YBNL exit

Lyta’s departure from YBNL was the subject of rumors that started when Olamide unfollowed him on Instagram. Lyta announced his departure from YNBL Nation on Naijaloaded TV in May 2019. He claims he never had a formal contract with the label, even though he was paid between $50,000 and $80,000 for appearances. Olamide told Guardian Life in a statement that Lyta had refused to adhere to YBNL’s promotion calendar.

New record label

In 2020 Lyta joined the Naira Marley’s Marlian Records. He also dropped “Hold me Down (Omo Gidi),” his debut single with the label. TG Omori directed the “Hold Me Down” music video, which drew inspiration from Kpop Korean boy bands GOT7 and BTS. The music video for “Just Right” by GOT7 is a perfect duplicate of the original. But Lyta didn’t ask for permission, and the exact replica of the video infuriated K-pop fans. “I am not signed with Marlian records,” Lyta declared. I just feel like Naira Marley is loving me.”

Lyta and Depressive Symptoms

On November 15, 2023, a Twitter user came out to seek help for Nigerian musician, Lyta. She claims the young singer is depressed and in need of assistance.

This was revealed in a message on her Twitter account, @theopeszn, in which she implored her followers to assist him.

Lyta, she claims, is no longer himself and feels embarrassed to speak up.

The musician had previously spoken up about his sadness, alleging that many people had approached him for money because he was a celebrity, but he had nothing to his name at the time.

According to this young lady, the musician’s situation appears to have deteriorated
