Embattled former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr Abdulrasheed Maina has denied all the accusations of corruption and theft against him.
Speaking with Ahmed Isah, the popular radio presenter, and human rights advocate, on the telephone in Abuja, Mr Maina claimed that rather than misappropriate funds, he has helped the federal government save billions of Naira by exposing leakages and monumental fraud in the pension scheme.

According to him, the genesis of his troubles started when he refused to compromise with “others” to defraud the system.
He claimed that investigations by his former team discovered monumental fraud in the Police pension scheme, including about N300million illegal daily deductions and N1billion stolen monthly.
Mr. Maina wondered why the people he reported for the fraud discovered by his team have not been questioned or arrested.
He claimed that the former office he occupied never had a budget appropriated to it to operate.
According to Mr Maina, he had helped the government reclaim and save over N282 billion.
The said money domiciled with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) was reclaimed under the last PDP administration when current Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was the Governor of CBN and Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was the Minister of Finance.
To silence him, he claimed that there were assassination attempts on his life, including death threats by texts and calls.

He sent complaints to the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS).
In a letter from the Police signed by the present Inspector General of Police, the Police promised to investigate the allegations of “threat to his life”. Sadly, the matter is still under investigation.
To save his life, he had to go under. He refuted the claims that he ‘ran away to escape justice’.
He blamed the media for allowing detractors to use their platforms to rubbish his name.
He declared his willingness to meet with President Buhari to expose all those involved in the pension scam and clear his name.
He also accepted the invitation to feature on Bereke Family programme to further explain his position and tender all indicting documents and pieces of evidence.
