A Nigerian man has criticized the Nigerian Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMCN) for frequently scheduling his wife for night shifts, stating that he no longer enjoys spending time with her.
This was posted on his TikTok account.
In the video, he shared that he doesn’t enjoy being around his wife anymore because her late-night responsibilities keep her from being the wife he needs.
His statement: “I’m calling out the NMCN, Nigerian Nursing and Midwifery Council, to please stop putting married women on night duties. It’s affecting us, the husbands. I don’t enjoy my wife anymore, especially when she’s on night duties. Please.”
As he was talking, his wife showed up in the background and told him to quit lying. He insisted he was telling the truth.
She said they enjoyed their time together that day, but he stressed it was only that day and he didn’t have her around on other days.
He said, “Only today, since you’ve been going. I don’t enjoy my wife anymore. I sleep alone; I’m missing her. When she comes back in the morning around 9 or even 10 sometimes, the only thing she wants to do is sleep. She sleeps for 4 to 5 hours.”
“When she wakes up around 2 or 3, she will cook and prepare to go to work again. Is that even a life?”
In his last message, he asked the medical council to give night shifts only to single people.
