A Nigerian man has publicly apologized to his wife. Anthony Okechukwu Echebiri previously accused his wife, Okechukwu Adaobi Fortune, of cheating after they had been apart for two years.
Echebiri, who works for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), claimed she left him and their children to marry another man while still being his legal wife.
In a heartfelt Facebook post called “My Sincere Apologies to My Sweetheart,” Echebiri showed great regret for his behavior and asked for a chance to make amends.
His apology read:
“MY SINCERE APOLOGIES TO MY SWEETHEART — OKECHUKWU ADAOBI FORTUNE Happy Sunday to You, my one and only Sweetheart, Hope Service today was awesome.
Before proceeding, I plead that you unblock all my phone lines as well as my Facebook account so we can get talking. The kids and I could not not make it to Church today as two of them are taking injections having been ill for the past two days of Malaria.
They had earlier taken tablets but relapsed after one week that led the medics to suggest injection. And, bless God, they’re fast recuperating. Not to make this document wordy, My Sweetheart, may I use this public medium to sincerely and most heartily tender my unreserved apologies to you for all my offences against you.
I am, indeed, truly sorry for hurting your feelings and misunderstanding you grossly to the point where you decided to quit. Since your departure, my Sweetheart, my life has never remained the same. The kids too have suffered so much, emotionally.
I am now a changed person and have evolved with the right levels of vulnerability to accomodate your natural weaknesses unlike before. I deeply regret how our marriage degenerated to this level all because of our divergent views to issues in a few cases.
But those few cases of our disagreement regrettably became so magnified, and gradually eroded the joy of conjugality vis-a-vis what an ideal marriage should be as at the time you left on April 24, 2022. Today being November 24, 2024 makes it 2 years and 7 months that I have lived like a widower whilst you are alive, and the kids been treated by their peers and strangers sometimes as motherless children.
I have often shed secret tears and sometimes at the office. I am pained, devastated and broken. You have won in this debate, my LOVE. No more arguments, my Sweetheart. Please, it is high time you are welcomed back gloriously as a Queen you truly are. Please forgive whatever that ever happened which pushed you to where you are today.
Put all the blames on me, like Christ who asks all believers to cast all their burdens on Him, and watch me thrash them in the dustbin of history. Our tomorrow shall be greater going forward, my Sweetheart. Let us therefore bury the hatchet today and begin the process of our re-union.
I am persuaded that the good Lord will touch your heart to return and the kids and I shall greatly rejoice. Once again, my Sweetheart, I am truly very SORRY. I Love You forevermore!
