Renowned comedian and filmmaker Bright Okpocha, commonly known as Basketmouth, has expressed his concerns regarding certain colleagues who fail to represent Nigeria’s vibrant culture in their films.

The movie star asserted that many recent epic films do not effectively highlight the cultural heritage of the nation.

In a discussion with Hip TV, Basketmouth contended that these filmmakers have squandered valuable opportunities to present Nigeria’s culture in a favorable light.

He said, “I believe that we still have the opportunity to get it right. But we had a great opportunity to showcase our culture and most of the filmmakers blew it up. They just ruined that great chance because I see epic movies and they look like stage plays.

“When I was seeing most of the epic movies, I was disappointed.

“You guys blew up a great opportunity but let’s hope we still have another chance to strike at it.

“I’m sorry, only very few movies have impressed me so far. I believe that we can do more.”

In related news, Basketmouth, had a funny conversation with his daughter. She publicly criticized him for “embarrassing the Okpocha family.”

This happened after a viral video where Basketmouth learned dance moves from popular content creator Brain Jotter.

In an Instagram video, Basketmouth was FaceTiming his daughter, who showed her disappointment with his dance moves while he was promoting his new movie.

“Hello, Daddy, I know you’re trying to promote your new movie, but can you stop with the dance? You’re embarrassing the entire Okpocha clan. Just stop; your movie will sell,” she said.

In response to the light-hearted teasing, the actor took to social media to explain his perspective.

“I used to think that I was the pride of my family,” he tweeted.

The conversation has made fans laugh, and many are calling the father-daughter teasing both touching and familiar.
