Emmanuel Philip, a well-known media figure in Nigeria, recognized as Naijashimadun Baba Egbe, has publicly criticized DJ Cuppy in light of her recent baptism celebration.
DJ Cuppy, whose birth name is Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, has made a significant commitment by undergoing baptism, thereby dedicating her life to Christianity. The heiress to a billionaire fortune shared a video documenting the entire baptism process.
Following the religious ceremony, the artist hosted a celebratory after party, which was attended by her father, Femi Otedola, her mother, Nana Otedola, her sister, Teni Otedola, as well as close friends and members of her church community.
Naijashimadun appeared to take issue with the after party, expressing his thoughts on his Instagram account.
He suggested that DJ Cuppy should refrain from showcasing her life journey, which includes her transition from a Disc Jockey to an academic and now to a baptized individual.
Naijashimadun found the notion of commemorating a religious event such as baptism with a party to be contentious. He further advised the 32-year-old artist to consider marriage.
The video elicited a variety of reactions, as social media users inundated the comments section with their opinions.
Calling her with her real name, he said, “Florence, have patience, you remembered the last time when you wanted to be a DJ, we supported you. You went ahead to bring a white fiancée to day, we accepted. Florence, you said you want to school, the one you used 10 year to learn, we accepted. Now, you decided to give your life to Christ, you still did after party. You can now bring husband home ooo”.
