Lagos state police division in Ejigbo, led by CSP OLABISI OKUWOBI, may have saved some residents from losing their hands after they dislodged a 6-man gang and arrested two of the robbers who specialised in cutting victims hands during their operation.
Gistlover reports that the suspects were apprehended at NNPC/ Daleko Road, Ejigbo area of Lagos after they rubbed powder to disguise and carried cutlasses with the aim of cutting off victims’ hands if they did not see anything to steal from them.
However, the Police received credible information and ambushed them; they were able to arrest two of them while four managed to escape and are now at large.
The suspects, Sunday Oladepo, 21 and Adeola Adekoya, 18, were arrested and the cutlasses recovered as exhibits and they have reportedly confessed that they were armed robbers and the cutlasses were used not only for protection but to inflict injury on those who might not cooperate with them during operations.
One of the suspects, Adeola said when he was held by the residents at night at about 11pm that he joined after he saw other members of the gang sharing money always; he was co-opted and he followed them for the operations and he was caught.
Adeola mentioned other suspects at large to include Sherif, Papa, Peter and Segun, who he said introduced him on how to use cutlass to attack victims.
During investigation, it was discovered that the whole members of the gang reside at Kazim Street in Apeno area of Ejigbo before they formed the gang and used powder to disguise so that they will not be identified by the residents during their operations.
When Witness correspondent visited the Ejigbo Police Station over the matter, the DPO was said to have gone out with her team for monitoring in the area.
