A final-year student named Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde from Kwara State College of Education was discovered dead at an Islamic cleric’s house in Ilorin. The cleric, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo, had lured her from Facebook.
Yetunde was sadly murdered for ritual reasons in Ilorin after being deceived by an Islamic cleric named Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo, whom she met on Facebook.
The Kwara State Police Command announced that a suspect, said to be the son of a well-known Muslim cleric from the Isalekoto area, is currently in custody at the police headquarters in Ilorin.
Reports indicate that she was at a naming ceremony when she got a call from a friend. She stepped away from her food to take the call and then went missing. Her family and friends searched for her but were unable to find her.
Her father, Ibrahim Lawal, reported her as missing on Tuesday at the Oja-Oba Police Division in Ilorin.
The police requested her phone number and used it to find her last call, which directed them to a suspect in the Ofa Garage area of Ilorin, though his family is based in Isalekuto.
When arrested, the suspect initially said he had no idea where Hafsoh was. But during a search of his house, he confessed that she had been there and died from an asthma attack after he invited her.
Further investigation found a disturbing scene: Hafsoh’s body was discovered cut into pieces and hidden in a bowl, with tools thought to be used for dismembering her found nearby.
The suspect is currently held at the Kwara State Police Headquarters. He is thought to have connected with Hafsoh on Facebook, got her phone number, and tricked her into coming to his home.
