The family of the late singer Mohbad has opposed actor Yomi Fabiyi’s recent request for a protest during the upcoming court hearing.
Remember, Mohbad died under unclear circumstances on September 12, 2023. His body was exhumed for an autopsy at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH.
The toxicology report showed no major findings related to his death.
Mohbad’s family dismissed the report and called for an independent autopsy.
Yomi Fabiyi, in honor of Mohbad’s one-year anniversary, encouraged the public to hold a peaceful protest at the next court hearing.
He also suggested organizing a peaceful protest for the first anniversary of Mohbad’s passing to continue seeking justice.
In response to the actor’s statement on Wednesday, Monisola Odumosu from the legal team warned that protests in the court area could disrupt the proceedings.
The family emphasized that all actions should be carried out respectfully to prevent any contempt of court. The statement read in part:
“Anyone is free to do whatever they wants so far he or she does it within the confines of the law. The Constitution gives everyone the right to express his or her grievances.
“However coming within the court precinct is another issue entirely. They must not make noise. The business of justice in the court must not be disturbed in any manner. Lest they be charged for contempt of Court.
“Our advice is that they should not disrupt the proceedings in the court in any form whilst they exercise their rights,”
