According to a report by Punch Newspaper, Aloba has taken legal action, filing an application at the Ikeja State High Court to challenge the recommendations made by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) concerning his son’s case.
Representing himself and the Aloba family, he has named Lagos State Attorney General Lawal Pedro (SAN) and the DPP, Dr. Babajide Martins, as respondents. His legal counsel, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), is requesting the court to overturn the DPP’s legal advice based on three main arguments.
First, Aloba asserts that he was denied a fair hearing, a right protected under Section 36 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution. Secondly, he contends that the DPP’s recommendations prematurely influenced the Coroner’s inquest, which remains ongoing. Lastly, he claims that key suspects identified in the inquest were released due to the DPP’s legal advice.
This legal move follows widespread reactions on Nigerian social media after reports from the Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, surfaced. It was revealed that Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and Prime Boy had been cleared of involvement in Mohbad’s death after nearly two years of legal proceedings.
The court’s decision has sparked intense debates, with Nigerians expressing varied opinions on the controversial ruling.
