Nollywood star Funke Akindele has sparked online buzz after a dramatic video of a house fire from her latest movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, went viral.
The footage shows what appears to be her multimillion-naira mansion engulfed in flames as cast and crew members scramble to control the situation. Despite the intensity, Funke remained calm, unfazed by the chaos.
Reports indicate the actress took a bold step, using her property to achieve an authentic look for the film.
Known for her dedication to quality, Funke fully funded the project herself, employing 175 crew members—95% of whom are emerging talents.
In preparation for the fire scenes, she collaborated with the Lagos State Fire Service to ensure safety on set. Jubril Giwa, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor, confirmed the partnership in a post on X, praising the project’s safety measures.
Fans and industry professionals have lauded Funke Akindele’s commitment to pushing boundaries in Nollywood. With anticipation already high, Everybody Loves Jenifa is shaping up to be one of the year’s most exciting releases.
