A distraught mother has described how she lost her son to death while he was being held in Nigerian police custody.
In a video circulating online, the saddened mother was seen crying profusely as she detailed her ordeals on the online program ‘Berekete Family,’ eliciting emotions from social media users.
Her son, Erasmus, was reportedly seized by authorities in connection with a murder investigation, along with a number of other young males. The mother said that he was wrongfully accused and arrested.
According to the woman, she brought food for Erasmus only to discover that her son could not see her. She asked a policewoman, who told her that her kid was too weary to receive any visitors at the moment.
However, she learned from one of her son’s detainees that Erasmus had been savagely beaten to death by police officers overnight.
The mother recounted her heartbreaking ordeal, revealing that she was bundled out of the station after she began to cry loudly over her son’s murder.
The widow stated that the cops bluntly told her that her late son was no different than the other innocent individuals they had been killing at the station.
The video sparked widespread reactions, with social media users sharing their thoughts in the comments section. Some reactions are shown below:
