A mother has publicly expressed her support following an incident in which her daughter was compelled to apologize before an entire congregation for becoming pregnant outside of marriage.
On Sunday, January 5, Pastor Bishop Terry W. Jackson of True Vine Apostolic Church of Christ summoned a pregnant congregant to the front of the church, where she was required to apologize for her premarital pregnancy.
After the young woman issued her apology, the pastor stated that the church does not endorse sinful behavior and informed her that there would be no baby shower, as there was nothing worthy of celebration.
The video of this event has incited considerable outrage, with viewers questioning the absence of accountability for the man responsible for the pregnancy and why he was not subjected to similar public shaming.
Additionally, some individuals encouraged the young woman to seek a different church community to avoid such humiliation. In response, the girl’s mother took to Facebook to affirm her unwavering support for the pastor’s actions.
She wrote: “To everyone that’s concerned, we greatly appreciate it. However, I do want you to know that you all are interrupting my peace and is causing more damage than good.
“You are showing up disrupting my church, my beliefs, and disrespecting my pastor. I am where I want to be and where I chose to be.
“We were not forced or manipulated to stand before the congregation. My daughter willingly approached the congregation and was welcomed and embraced with open arms.
“I stand on what I’ve been taught, and I’m raising my daughter to do the same.
“I stand with my Pastor!”
