Murphy Afolabi to be laid to rest in his hometown

The Nigerian film industry, also known as Nollywood, is mourning in sorrow after the passing of renowned actor and director Murphy Afolabi.

The Osogbo-born entertainer will reportedly be buried in his hometown today, May 15, causing a wave of sadness among fans and colleagues.

Just a few hours ago, the sudden death of Murphy Afolabi sent shockwaves through social media.

The tragic news was confirmed by fellow actor and filmmaker Tunde Ola Yusuf, who posted a condolence message and a prayer for Afolabi’s soul to find eternal peace on his Instagram page.

Yusuf’s heartfelt tribute read;

“We lost a strong filmmaker, Murphy Afolabi… May God rest your soul bro.”

His colleague Seun Oloketuyi provided more details regarding the circumstances of Afolabi’s death.

Oloketuyi revealed that the talented actor had slipped in the bathroom, causing him to hit his head on a hard surface.

Tragically, Afolabi’s injuries turned out to be lethal, resulting in his untimely demise.

Oloketuyi stated in his statement that he would later share further details:

“Breaking. Murphy Afolabi is dead. He died from injuries sustained from falling in the bathroom. Details later.”

Adding to the sorrow, Murphy Afolabi’s passing occurred merely days after he joyously celebrated his 49th birthday.

As preparations are made for his final journey, the Nollywood community and fans of Murphy Afolabi are left to mourn the loss of a remarkable artist and empathize with his grieving family.
