Nigerian artist Ahmed Ololade, known as Asake, has faced backlash from some Muslims after a Saudi Arabian TikToker, Brother Kareem, criticized him.
Brother Kareem claimed that Asake disrespected Islam by including a significant Quran verse in his song. He also condemned those who use the phrase Alhamdulillah in their music.
On TikTok, @brotherkareem_ posted a screenshot of the lyrics featuring the Quran verse and expressed uncertainty about Asake’s faith but suggested he should be warned.
Brother Kareem noted that some Muslims do not find Asake’s actions offensive, but he argued that disrespecting Allah should not be excused. Asake, a 29-year-old Muslim from Lagos, has previously faced similar accusations.
In the video for his song “Only Me,” he wore a Catholic priest’s outfit, which upset many Christians.
