A heated exchange unfolded inside a public bus after a Muslim man confronted a woman for eating while he was fasting during Ramadan.
The incident, captured in a viral video on X (formerly Twitter), shows the woman eating her meal when the man asks her to stop, claiming that he could smell her food and it was affecting his fast.
“Excuse me, I can smell that. Do you mind eating that somewhere else? I’m fasting. Can’t you wait till you get off the bus?” the man is heard saying.
However, the woman firmly refused, stating that she was simply having her lunch and saw no reason to stop.
Reacting to the post
The video has sparked a wave of reactions, with many social media users sharing their perspectives:
@marcanthony99: “Fasting is a personal commitment. If someone struggles to be around food while fasting, they should reconsider their approach. Respect goes both ways.”
@SadokChai: “If Muslims have a problem with people eating during Ramadan, they should live in a Muslim country.”
@Dr_BellaR: “I work with many Muslims, and none have ever asked me not to eat around them. This guy’s behavior is the exception, not the norm.”
@AtzeBitcoin: “In Germany, eating in public transport is generally not allowed. This isn’t about Ramadan but basic manners.”
@GeorgeHclownwrl: “She’s right. Society shouldn’t have to change for someone else’s religious beliefs.”
@Neo306: “In London, eating on public transport is prohibited. She’s wrong for eating on the bus, and he’s wrong for using Ramadan as an excuse.”
The debate continues, with some arguing for religious tolerance and others emphasizing personal freedoms in public spaces.
