Onome Onokohwomo, better known by his stage name Young6ix, a Nigerian hip-hop artist located in the US, has disclosed that he became famous before Davido.
This is a blatant dig at Davido for leaving him off of his list of the young people who broke through to prominence in the Nigerian music scene.
Recall that Davido recently asserted that he and Wizkid were the first set of young Nigerian artistes to hit stardom.
Yung6ix expressed his delight at the “new cats” (stars) that are currently ruling the music business, including Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and Asake.
In response, Yung6ix referred to Davido as “his boy” and said that he, Olamide, and Wizkid became famous before the singer. He said:
“David, David. How many times I called your name?
“You know I got nothing but love for you, my boy. But let’s get it straight. It was Wizkid, Olamide and Young6ix before it was you. We were the youngins of that time.
“You want to skip me from the legacy?”
