A Nigerian lady has turned to social media to express her deep sorrow over the tragic loss of her brother, who passed away following an encounter with a police officer at a checkpoint in Ekpoma. The heartbreaking incident took place shortly after he had purchased a new car.
In a widely shared post on X (formerly Twitter), the grieving sister posted a video of herself in tears, alleging that the police were responsible for her brother’s untimely death and questioning the justification for their actions.
She questioned the role of law enforcement, asking:
“Are the police supposed to protect us or kill us?”
Speaking further about the tragic loss, she wrote:
“If you’ve been hearing the rumors in Ekpoma, it’s true—the police officer just dropped my brother. Why would they shoot an innocent person? He didn’t steal, he didn’t harm anyone. For what reason?”
“Are we no longer safe outside because of the police? My brother was killed, and we don’t even know why.”
“The hospital has refused to let his parents see him, saying the police didn’t give them permission.”
“Where is this country heading? These officers must be brought to justice. Justice must be served for Chinedu.”
As the emotional video went viral, another video came to light, revealing more details about the incident.
According to an early report, the young man was traveling through Ekpoma with his friends after buying a car when they encountered a police checkpoint that was carrying out a stop-and-search operation.
The report stated:
“The police stopped this guy and his friends, and an argument broke out. Suddenly, the officer shot his friend in the leg.”
“Shocked by how a minor argument had escalated to gunfire, the deceased questioned the situation. In response, the officer shot him in the stomach, killing him on the spot.”
The situation has ignited anger, prompting numerous individuals to express their calls for justice for the person who passed away in the comments section.
