I might venture into politics – BBNaija’s Seyi Awolowo Seyi Awolowo, a former housemate on Big Brother Naija, recently made a hint that he might be thinking about entering politics. This was disclosed by Seyi during a conversation about the expectations society places on him as a child of Awolowo. It should come as no surprise that he is considering his options for entering politics given that he is the grandson of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the first president of Nigeria. Seyi revealed he is Awolowo's 20th grandchild during an appearance on Channels TV's "The Morning Brief" on Tuesday. He also hinted that he would be tempted to go into politics given the present state of affairs in the nation. To quote him: “To be honest, I would have loved not to get into politics but with the way it seems in the country, I might have to. I would just have liked to enjoy and be on the backbone of entertainment. “But I have a family that I’m looking forward to growing in this country, I’m not trying to ‘japa’. I want them to experience Nigeria the way I experienced Nigeria. “You know being able to enjoy the full 36 states, go anywhere you want to, interact with other tribes. Just be a Nigerian in your country and not be limited to certain conditions and policies that can change at any time in foreign country. “Since I was a child. People were always telling me that as an Awolowo child, this is how I was supposed to be, that I was always supposed to read books like my grandfather. A lot of older people always said that to me,”

Seyi Awolowo, a Nigerian actor and Big Brother Naija star, has claimed that his goal in Nollywood is to be “one of the greatest actors that will interpret characters”.

Awolowo remarked this in a recent interview, saying that he has yet to be assigned a role or character that he describes as the most difficult to play.

The movie actor also stated that superstars do not need publicity stunts to be relevant; instead, they should work hard and success is guaranteed.

He said; “My aspiration as an actor is to be one of the greatest actors that will interpret characters that will steal the hearts of many across the world, and give people defining moments that will be captured in history books. I aspire for the greatest achievements in the industry.

“I haven’t exactly interpreted any character that I can describe as the toughest. There was a character I played that was a negative person, which would probably be the toughest. But right after, it didn’t seem tough anymore.”

Speaking about the tendency of entertainers employing PR stunts to promote themselves, Seyi said; “I don’t think celebrities need publicity stunts to stay relevant; they only need to work hard. Publicity stunts create a very negative undertone, and it can easily be abused.

“If I was doing anything else, I would have put in as much energy as I am doing now. I still think I would have been destined for great things. Before BBN, I was acting to a certain degree.”

In other news, Seyi Awolowo, Big Brother Naija reality star, has spoken up about his difficult childhood experiences.

Seyi, the late Nigerian nationalist Obafemi Awolowo’s grandson, talked in an interview with Chude Jideonwo.

He revealed that his father had disowned him several times due to the complications of growing up in a polygamous family.

Seyi claimed that his father had three marriages and kept thorough records on each of his children, reducing their identities to just names on a list.

He recalls his father sending letters to cut off his children, leaving them feeling alienated and unwanted.

“My dad disowned me a couple of times. Not just me, a couple of us, my dad married more than one wife. He married three wives. We all have files. As of right now, your name is just Seyi, full stop,” he said.
