“I Could’ve Been A Footballer, I Used To Play For Arsenal” – Naira Marley Reveals Naira Marley, a well-known Nigerian singer, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, has discussed how he would have chosen football as a career. He claims that while growing up in London, England, he played for the Arsenal youth, Millwall, and Charlton teams. Naira Marley said the environment where he grew up caused him to adopt the Nigerian style when he could back home. He was talking about his childhood in the UK before returning home. The singer mentioned how his father influenced his Yoruba language as a growing child in an interview with Cool FM Nigeria in Lagos. He said, “What made it easy for me (to blend with Nigerian street music) is that I grew up in South-East London, Peckham to be precise. That is like small Lagos, you know what I mean? “And all my life in England, my dad banned speaking English in the house. So, we had to speak Yoruba and all these Yoruba stuff. I still listen to Fuji. We eat African foods. Even though I’m in England, it was like I’m still in Nigeria. Yeah, it was easy for me. When I came back (to Nigeria), people didn’t really know I came from London. “I could have been a footballer too, i used to play for Arsenal Youth, Millwall, Charlton.”

Azeez Adeshina Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, is a British-Nigerian singer and songwriter. He was born on May 10, 1991. He is well-known for being the leader of his contentious “Marlians” fandom.

Education

Fashola relocated to South London’s Peckham when he was 11 years old. He earned a distinction in business at Peckham Academy. At Crossways College (now Christ the King Sixth Form College), he additionally studied business law.

Career

Beginnings of a career from 2014 to 2018

Fashola had ambitions to work as a voice actor and MC while he was still a child. Following the discovery of his love for music in 2014, he started singing after being prodded to do so by close friends. Before releasing his debut EP Gotta Dance in 2014, he released the Max Twigz-assisted song “Marry Juana.”.

The song “Issa Goal,” which he dropped in December 2017 and which featured Olamide and Lil Kesh, served as the Super Eagles’ official anthem during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. On June 16, 2018, the official remix of “Issa Goal” was made available; it included vocals from Olamide, Lil Kesh, Falz, Simi, and Slimcase.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detained Marley the same day he dropped the Zlatan-assisted song “Am I A Yahoo Boy” on May 3, 2019. Controversies.

EFCC Arrest

The EFCC detained Marley along with Zlatan, Tiamiu Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses, Micheal “Taqueesh” Adenuga, and Abubakar Musa on May 10. The EFCC detained Marley because of the evidence against him, but five days later released Zlatan and three other people.

Before a federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on May 16, 2019, the EFCC filed 11 counts of fraud against him. While Marley was still incarcerated, Zlatan dropped the single “4 Nights in Ekohtiebo” on May 19, 2019. In it, he discusses the friends, rivals, and other figures he admired from the industry and how they came through for him.

Assault Allegation

In a series of posts on MohBad’s social media on October 5, 2022, Marley was accused of assault by his signee. Pictures and videos of him in the posts showed him with obvious wounds that required hospitalization. Marley refuted the charge by referring to it as a “family affair” and asserting that Mohbad was probably “high” at the time he made the complaint.
