Naira Marley Biography, EFCC Arrest, Music Career, Allegation on Mohbad Death

Azeez Adeshina Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, is a British-Nigerian singer and songwriter. He was born on May 10, 1991. He is well-known for being the leader of his contentious “Marlians” fandom.

Education

Fashola relocated to South London’s Peckham when he was 11 years old. He earned a distinction in business at Peckham Academy. At Crossways College (now Christ the King Sixth Form College), he additionally studied business law.

Career

Beginnings of a career from 2014 to 2018

Fashola had ambitions to work as a voice actor and MC while he was still a child. Following the discovery of his love for music in 2014, he started singing after being prodded to do so by close friends. Before releasing his debut EP Gotta Dance in 2014, he released the Max Twigz-assisted song “Marry Juana.”.

The song “Issa Goal,” which he dropped in December 2017 and which featured Olamide and Lil Kesh, served as the Super Eagles’ official anthem during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. On June 16, 2018, the official remix of “Issa Goal” was made available; it included vocals from Olamide, Lil Kesh, Falz, Simi, and Slimcase.

His music is a fusion of Afrobeats and hip-hop, and Marley sings in English, Pidgin, and Yoruba. His dreadlocks and stage name, which he owes to the Jamaican singer Bob Marley, whom he greatly admires, respectively.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) detained Marley the same day he dropped the Zlatan-assisted song “Am I A Yahoo Boy” on May 3, 2019. A few days after his release from prison, on June 27, 2019, he released “Soapy.”. At the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards on January 11, he took home the Viewers’ Choice award for “Soapy.”.

Afrobeats and hip-hop were combined on Marley’s second EP, Lord of Lamba, which was released on December 18. The EP had six songs and included guest performers like Mayorkun, Young John, and CBlvck. Studio Magic, Rexxie, and Killertunes were in charge of its production.

CBlvck, Zinoleesky, and Fabian Blu were introduced as signed acts at the “Marlian Fest,” which was held at the Eko Hotels and Suites on December 30, 2019, during which Marley also announced the launch of his record label Marlian Records. On July 10, 2020, Marley debuted another artist on his label, Emo Grae, with the release of a new song and music video titled 0903 featuring Buju.

Controversies.

EFCC Arrest

The EFCC detained Marley along with Zlatan, Tiamiu Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses, Micheal “Taqueesh” Adenuga, and Abubakar Musa on May 10. The EFCC detained Marley because of the evidence against him, but five days later released Zlatan and three other people.

Before a federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on May 16, 2019, the EFCC filed 11 counts of fraud against him. While Marley was still incarcerated, Zlatan dropped the single “4 Nights in Ekohtiebo” on May 19, 2019. In it, he discusses the friends, rivals, and other figures he admired from the industry and how they came through for him.

Assault Allegation

In a series of posts on MohBad’s social media on October 5, 2022, Marley was accused of assault by his signee. Pictures and videos of him in the posts showed him with obvious wounds that required hospitalization. Marley refuted the charge by referring to it as a “family affair” and asserting that Mohbad was probably “high” at the time he made the complaint.
