Dr. Stephen Angbas, the owner of Lafia-Angbas Clinic in Nasarawa State, was slain by some as-yet-unidentified assailants.

According to The PUNCH  the killing happened in the late hours of Tuesday as Angbas was returning from his farm on a motorcycle in the Awe Local Government Area of the state.

Witnesses told our correspondent that the attackers, who appeared to be armed thieves, attacked the doctor and the motorcycle who was taking the deceased physician to the farm with a machete in a cruel and severe manner.

Motorcycle rider Mikailu Dahiru was taken to a nearby hospital and is presently undergoing emergency treatment for his severe wounds from the attack, while Angbas reportedly tragically passed away from his injuries.

The local government council’s Audu Lawal official expressed grave concern about the incident and mentioned that the council chairman had alerted security authorities for prompt action.

Distressing information about a fatal assault along the Jangargari-Awe Road was received by mobile police operatives “Today, on the 17th of October 2023, at approximately 4:00 pm, mobile police operatives received distressing information regarding a fatal assault along the Jangargari-Awe Road.

“Tragically, the victims were a commercial motorcycle rider, Mikailu Dahiru, who survived the attack, and Dr. Angbass Stephen, who succumbed to his grievous injuries.

“In light of this senseless violence, CP Maiyaki Baba extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved’s family and has initiated a comprehensive investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
