A talent management agency, Tokindrumz Management, has stated that Chinedu Ani, widely recognized as Nedu Wazobia, is not guilty of defrauding anyone through a purported scholarship scheme, contrary to allegations made by social activist VeryDarkMan (VDM).
Nedu, who hosts the Honest Bunch podcast, recently faced accusations regarding VDM’s sexual orientation from a guest, which sparked a social media conflict. During this exchange, VDM alleged that Nedu misused his non-governmental organization (NGO) for fraudulent activities.
In a press conference held at Oniru Estate, Lekki, Lagos, Ms. Sarah Williams-Konha, the Chief Operations Officer of Tokindrumz Management, clarified that while the Nedu Scholarship Foundation was indeed promoted by the well-known presenter, he did not personally receive any funds.
Ms. Williams-Konha further explained that Tokindrumz Management acted as the fund manager for the scholarship initiative, which had been put on hold due to last-minute withdrawals by partners involved in the project.
She noted that the agency had been approached by the police following a formal complaint, and the police had cleared them of any misconduct, recommending that the parties involved in the scholarship scheme pursue an out-of-court resolution.
Additionally, Ms. Williams-Konha indicated that the agency is in the process of seeking legal action against VDM for his defamatory statements.
Regarding VDM’s assertion that Nedu engaged in inappropriate relationships with female guests on the podcast, Ms. Williams-Konha stated that the agency would refrain from addressing rumors and speculation.
In response, Nedu Wazobia asserted that he has not been dismissed as the host of the Honest Bunch podcast. He emphasized that he was one of the founders of the podcast and had only stepped back to protect the initiative from adverse publicity.
Nedu, who clarified that he was never on friendly terms with VDM, remarked that all guests on the Honest Bunch podcast have the right to express their opinions, and it would be inappropriate to silence them, as the show’s purpose is to foster open discussions on challenging topics.
