The Recording Academy, which organizes the Grammy Awards, is currently under fire from Nigerians who are raging on social media sites.
The Grammy Awards have added three new categories to their 2024 award event, including Best African Music Performance, Best Pop Dance Recording, and Best Alternative Jazz Album.
The Academy recently posted photographs of some “up-and-coming black artists everyone should have on their radar,” and both Nigerian afrobeat sensation, Wizkid, and Mavin signee, Rema made the list.
This did not sit well with some Nigerians, especially Wizkid’s fans who considered it demeaning given the singer’s status as one of the most successful music artistes in Africa. They took to social media to lampoon the organizers for making such ridiculous post.
