Portable blows hot, says Olamide didn’t make him popular

  • Nigerian singer Portable has sparked controversy on social media by claiming that rapper Olamide did not make him famous.
    • In a TikTok live stream, the singer defended his fame after Olamide’s 2021 single Zazu Zeh, stating that the rapper’s contribution is not solely his.

Nigerian artist Portable has stirred controversy on social media by claiming that rapper Olamide did not contribute to his rise to fame.

In a recent TikTok live stream, the outspoken singer discussed his notoriety following Olamide’s collaboration on his popular track “Zazu Zeh” in 2021, rejecting the idea that the rapper was solely responsible for his success. He emphasized that while Olamide provided assistance, the credit for his fame should not be attributed exclusively to him.

He said, “Is it Olamide that posted me and got me famous? He’s my helper, yes but I was already famous before he helped me.”

“These are two different things; he didn’t come to meet me suffering. Everyone wanted to mingle with me at the time and it even caused some issues. But let’s even talk about it, since that time that Olamide helped me, has he ever posted me on his story? ” he asked, I thank God for what he did but still, what year did he help me? It’s not the same feature that I’ve been using to fend for myself all this while.”

Portable also acknowledged other influential figures such as Tunde Ednut and Skepta, recognizing their roles in his career while criticizing industry insiders whom he alleges have marginalized him.

He remarked, “Did he ever post me or repost any of my singles? Don’t tell me rubbish. I helped myself, please! I’ve even been backlisted in the industry. Abeg, if you no see me, I no see you! What would you now say about Skepta, who did a Collab with me? It was Tunde Ednut who helped me by posting my freestyle; people were already looking for me before Olamide.”

He concluded, “Let me remind everyone, it was an old video that brought me into the limelight. The reason many avoid associating with me now is that they are aware I understand my worth. I am a superstar, and I will not be silenced!”

His remarks have elicited a range of responses on social media, with numerous individuals criticizing him for perceived ingratitude towards the rapper.
