According to information from SaharaReporters, Alakija and her husband, Modupe Alakija, the Chairman of Famfa Oil, were on the same flight when an alarming incident took place, causing her blood pressure to spike.

This situation reportedly affected her eyesight. To avoid future flights with her husband, Alakija is said to have acquired a new jet. Additionally, she is believed to have opened a church for spiritual support.

Despite these actions, her eyesight kept getting worse, leading to her complete loss of vision.

One of the sources, according to SaharaReporters said;

“She had a near air mishap with her husband on board and her blood pressure reportedly shot up affecting her eyes

“She has been having eyesight issues but instead of treating the illness, she chose to start a church to help her.Now she can’t see.”

Folorunsho Alakija launched a small fellowship in her home around 2004, which eventually turned into the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International. On her 69th birthday, she received ordination as an Apostle, a key spiritual milestone.

In 2020, Forbes estimated her wealth at $1 billion. In 2015, she was ranked the 87th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes and was one of just two African women featured on the list of Africa’s wealthiest individuals.

Alakija is linked to a Bombardier Global Express XRS (model BD-700-1A10), which has the serial number 9416. This aircraft is registered to Wings of Grace Limited since November 25, 2011, and has the tail number VP-CEO.

Additionally, she owns a Bombardier Global Express 6000, a private jet celebrated for its long-range abilities and luxury. It can travel up to 6,000 nautical miles and has a cruising speed of Mach 0.89.
