A young woman from Nigeria took her grandmother to court because she did not repay her N95,000 after living with her for five months.
The girl claimed that her grandmother borrowed the money in January with a promise to return it by June, but failed to do so.
“She borrowed money from my hand. She has not paid me my money. Since January 10th. This is 5 months now. She said she will pay in June. I asked and she said she will not pay me that she is taking care of me and buying clothes for me,” she said.
In her defence, the grandmother said the girl stays in her house for free, eats her food and she also buys clothes for her.
In her words:
“She is my house eating, I am paying house rent. I told her I want to use the money in my shop. I collected N95,000 from her and said I will pay in June. I said I will pay her back but I don’t have the intention to pay her back. She is my child. Why will I pay her? If I say I will not pay her she will not give me. I will pay her if she cool down. I will pay you but not now. Since I took care of you from Primary to secondary school.”
