A Nigerian lady’s engagement has allegedly been terminated following her fiancé’s unease regarding her recent employment and substantially higher income.

As reported by a close acquaintance, @Starbede, on X, the woman, who became engaged in May and was preparing for a traditional wedding in November, obtained a new job last month that offers a salary three times greater than that of her fiancé.

Rather than rejoicing in her success, her fiancé urged her to decline the position, expressing concerns that her elevated earnings might result in diminished respect within their relationship.

“My friend got engaged in May this year and their traditional wedding was meant to be in November. She called me yesterday in tears to tell me the engagement had been called off.
She got a new job last month and the salary is so huge that she will earn three times more than the guy.
He was uncomfortable with it and asked her to reject it or the engagement would be called off.
