A Nigerian mother has cut ties with her son after discovering he wore stud earrings during his university matriculation ceremony.
The incident, which surfaced on TikTok, was shared by the young man’s sister, who posted a screenshot of their mother’s message distancing herself from the situation.
Expressing deep disappointment, the mother stated that her son had disregarded her advice, prompting her decision to sever all ties. She warned him about the potential consequences of his choices and instructed him never to contact her again.
In her message, she wrote:
“From today, I disown you. You are no longer my son. Do not reach out to me for anything. You have made your choice, so continue on your path. My advice as a mother holds no value to you. One day, you may get arrested—mark my words.”
Additionally, she accused her daughter of enabling her brother’s behavior, warning that she, too, would face repercussions.
“Bolu, your brother has joined a bad group, and you are covering up for him. When he gets arrested, you will face the consequences too. Do not ask me for money—I am done with both of you. Good luck. Never call my number again.”
The post quickly gained traction online, sparking mixed reactions from social media users, with some supporting the mother’s stance while others criticized her response.
