A Nigerian Shiite group on Sunday rubbished a court order that enables the government to ban it on “terrorism” grounds after a spate of fatal protests in the capital.
At least six protesters, a student journalist and a senior police officer were killed on Monday when violence flared during a walk by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria to request the release of its pioneer Ibrahim Zakzaky.

The authorities need to publish the order in the state gazette and two newspapers for it to come into force.

At a news meeting in Abuja on Sunday, senior IMN official Yahiya Dahiru denounced the move as a “perilous advancement”.
